We are James and Eleanor Miner, the proprietors of Westwood Park School. We both have an overwhelming desire to contribute to the development of education in Nigeria. After identifying a deep and pervasive decline in educational standards in Nigeria, we decided to put our hearts into making a change in our own small corner of Jos.

James is a British trained, Nigerian lawyer and business man whilst Eleanor is a British teacher. We both attended the University of Warwick, where James gained an LLB (Bachelor of Laws degree) and Eleanor gained a BEd (Bachelor of Education degree). James went on to Cambridge University where he gained an LLM (Master of Laws degree.)

We lived and worked in London for many years before coming to settle in James’ home town of Jos, Nigeria. We came to Nigeria with the intention of setting up a school with a difference. Eleanor was a teacher for 15 years before coming to Nigeria. We packed up two container loads of books and equipment, furniture and resources in order to start a primary school. We came with a wealth of experience and exposure that enabled us to train, motivate and inspire Nigerian teachers to work differently with children. We wanted each child’s experience of school to be filled with joy and happy memories. We aimed to establish an environment where lifelong lovers of learning would thrive and

blossom.

The guiding principles of Westwood Park School are founded upon the standards of excellence demanded of schools and teachers in the UK. A high quality of teaching and learning is paramount to the ethos of the school. Our staff have thoroughly embraced this vision of quality and excellence, constantly working towards raising standards personally and professionally.

Westwood Park School is a place where the love of Jesus Christ pervades all that we do. We seek to emulate the heart of God in all our steps as we work every day with our precious children.
